Introducing: Our Partnership with TerraCycle
We are passionate about our social good initiatives and are always looking for new and innovative ways to protect the earth. At the heart of Source Vitál is our deep respect for Mother Earth and all that she offers.
That’s why we’ve partnered with TerraCycle to provide a collection and recycling program for beauty and skincare products (and their packaging) in our showroom. Below, we’ll explain what TerraCycle is, how it works, and how you can get involved!
What is TerraCycle?
Did you know that every year, millions of beauty and skincare packaging end up in dumpsters and landfills? TerraCycle’s mission is to eliminate the idea of waste, but they aren’t your average recycling company. TerraCycle develops ways to collect and recycle trash that are not generally accepted by traditional recycling services. They can recycle items considered “hard-to-recycle” because they work with brands, retailers, and other stakeholders who help fund the recycling process.
TerraCycle is helping to eliminate the idea of waste through their Zero Waste Box. Purchasing a box makes it possible for us to recycle things we wouldn’t normally be able to recycle through traditional curbside services.For more information on TerraCycle, click here.
How Does it Work?
With the Zero Waste box, recycling is made convenient and easy. Select the box, fill it with recyclable products associated with the box, and ship it back with the prepaid shipping label.
We’ve purchased 2 of these Zero Waste boxes for our warehouse- 1 for safety and protective gear (such as hairnets, goggles, and gloves) and 1 for empty beauty and skincare packaging.
Beauty products that can be recycled can be any brand (not just Source Vitál.)
Things that are accepted are:
- Conditioner bottles and caps
- Eyeliner pencils (non-wooden) and cases
- Eye shadow tubes
- Face soap dispensers and tubes
- Hair gel tubes and caps
- Hair paste plastic jars and caps
- Lip balm tubes
- Lip gloss tubes
- Lotion bottles, tubes, dispensers, and jars
- Mascara tubes
- Plastic concealer tubes and sticks
- Shampoo bottles and caps
- Shaving foam tubes (no cans)
- Spray bottles and triggers
Products in aerosol or pressurized cans, electronic items such as blow dryers and straighteners, perfume bottles, nail polish bottles or removers, wooden eyeliner pencils, any bio-medical, bio-hazardous waste, or partially full and full packagings (tubes, jars, and containers) such as nail-polish, lotion, soap or ointments.
How Can I Get Involved?
Do you have beauty empties you’d like to recycle? Are you in the Houston area? You can recycle them in our showroom, as long as they fit the criteria listed above.

Additionally, if you’re purchasing Source Vitál products, you can rest assured knowing that our product packaging comes in polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles or high-density polyethylene (HDPE), also known by the recycling codes #1 and #2 respectively.
These are accepted by most curbside recycling pick-ups.
