Always dilute essential oils (except Lavender or Tea Tree) before applying on the skin. Essential Oils are extremely potent and can burn or irritate the skin at full strength. We recommend mixing pure essential oils with a carrier oil like Jojoba Gold. If you’ve never used an essential oil on your skin, be sure you do a patch test to make sure you don’t have any adverse reactions. Itchy, red, inflamed skin will not allow you to get the best out of meditation.
The Best Essential Oils for Meditation
Different oils can promote different moods, but for most people, the essential oils you choose to use really comes down to personal preference. With that in mind, we wanted to share some of our favorite essential oils that we personally use for meditation.
Universally revered for its relaxing properties, Lavender essential oil is great for a pre-bedtime meditation session. If you have difficulty focusing or feel restless during your meditation, Lavender’s calming aroma can balance you, help you settle in, and focus.
If your preferred method of meditation is to focus on your breaths, Eucalyptus is an ideal essential oil. Eucalyptus naturally inspires you to take a deep breath. Clear the airways, and breathe deeply.
Bright, cheery Neroli can be transformative when used in a meditative state. Known for inspiring creativity and clarity, Neroli can help to reduce the feeling of inflammation, or the tightness and tension that’s associated with stress, and promote self-acceptance.
If you meditate, you may be familiar with the idea of “chakras.” Essentially, chakras are thought to be the seven energy zones in the body. Positioned from the base of the spine to the top of the head, they are thought to influence bodily functions, both physical and emotional.
