Botanical Name: cymbopogon martini

Palmarosa is a tropical grass native to India. This grass is herbaceous and will remind you of Lemongrass and Citronella. It is frequently used to adulterate Rose oil and is widely used in perfumery.

Uses of Palmarosa Essential Oil

History and Background

In Chinese Medicine, Palmarosa is cool and moist in energy. It also clears heat and strengthens yin energy, reinforces the heart yin and calms the mind.

We do not know when this plant was first distilled into an essential oil, but once it reached Europe, it was used in perfumery and skin care, including many soaps and facial products.

An interesting fact is that Palmarosa was once used as a flavoring for tobacco.

Holistically, Palmarosa encourages adaptability and feelings of security, while centering and comforting the heart. Good oil for those who are resistant to change and have difficulty letting go.

Palmarosa oil is a middle note that blends well with Amyris, Basil, Bergamot, Cananga, Cedarwood, Fennel, Frankincense, Geranium, Lavender, Lemon, Lemongrass, Mandarin, Neroli, Orange, Pine, Rose, Rosemary, Sandalwood and Ylang Ylang. Use small amounts in blends.
