Genital antiseptic,
diuretic, astringent, anti-spasmodic, aphrodisiac, tonic,
anti-depressant, anti-phlogistic, bactericidal, carminative,

Indications:
Genital infections, water
retention, muscle spasms, skin infections, depression,
impotence, acne, bronchitis, catarrh, coughs, laryngitis,
sore throat, diarrhea, nausea, cystitis, insomnia, nervous
tension.
Holistic uses:
In Chinese medicine,
cool/moist action, earth and water element, cooling and
decongesting for hot, inflammatory and catarrhal conditions,
clarifies and stills the mind. In Ayurvedic medicine,
alleviates inflammations and infections. Psychologically,
encourages higher consciousness by grounding in self,
facilitates acceptance of reality. Opening for base to crown
chakra. Survival of spiritual aspects. To be used with
people who are grounded. Works on base chakra, vibrates
between 7th and 1st chakra. Eases anxiety, depression,
inhibitions. Arouses sexual feelings.
Contraindications:
Non-toxic, non-irritant,
non-sensitizing.
Blending:
Blends
well with rose, violet, tuberose, clove, lavender, black
pepper, bergamot, rosewood, geranium, galbanum, oakmoss,
Benzoin, Vetiver, patchouli, miomosa, cassie, costus, myrrh,
jasmine. Sandalwood is becoming scarce due to overuse. When
possible, use other wood oils, such as Cedarwood which will
serve in the blend. Base
to middle note.
Characteristics:
Pale yellow, greenish or
brown color. Viscous consistency. Deep, woody, balsamic,
sweet, slightly musky aroma.
Extraction:
Steam or water distillation
from roots and heartwood, powdered and dried. |
