Allopathic uses: Aperitif,
anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antiseptic, antispasmodic,
carminative, depurative, diuretic, emmenagogue, expectorant,
galactagogue, laxative, orexigenic, circulatory stimulant,
splenic, stomachic, tonic, vermifuge.
Indications: Bruises, pyorrhea,
cellulites, obesity, edema, rheumatism, asthma, bronchitis,
anorexia, colic, constipation, dyspepsia, flatulence,
hiccough, nausea, amenorrhea, insufficient milk in nursing
mothers, menopausal symptoms.
Holistic uses: Not widely used
holistically.
Contraindications: Not for
pregnancy. Non-toxic, non-irritant, non-sensitizing.
Blending: Top note. Blends well
with lavender, geranium, oakmoss, opopanax, pine, fir,
Styrax and oriental oils.
Chemical Components: Pinene,
cadinol, cadinene, myrcene.
Characteristics: Colorless to
pale yellow to olive green in color. Thin consistency Deep,
green, woody aroma with balsamic undertone.
Extraction: Steam or water
distillation from oleoresin or gum.
