Chamomile Essential OilChamomile German

Botanical Name: chamomilla matricaria

 

Anatomical areas: Skin, muscles and joints, digestive system, genito-urinary system, nervous system, liver.

 

Allopathic uses: Anti-inflammatory, soothing, immunostimulant, analgesic, antianemic, antispasmodic, digestive, emmenagogue, balancing, hepatic, cholagogue, sedative, stomachic.

 

Indications: Sensitive, inflamed skin, acne, boils, burns, dermatitis, eczema, insect bites, rashes, arthritis, sprains, sore muscles, colic, indigestion, nausea, dysmenorrhea, menopausal problems, menorrhagia, liver conditions, headaches and migraines, insomnia, nervous tension, stress-related complaints.

 

Holistic uses: In Chinese medicine, yin energy, wood element. Appeasing for anger or tantrums.

 

Contraindications: Can cause dermatitis in some individuals.

 

Blending: Middle note. Blends well with bergamot, clary sage, jasmine, labdanum, neroli, rose, geranium, lavender.

 

Chemical Components: Approximately 85% esters of angelic and tiglic acids with pinene, farnesol, nerolidol, chamazulene, pinacarvone, cineol. Higher acid concentration which results in higher concentration of azulene than Roman Chamomile.

 

Characteristics: Deep green and blue color. Warm, sweet, fruity-herbaceous aroma.

 

Extraction: Steam distillation of flowers.
