Anatomical areas: Skin, liver,
spleen, colon, nervous system.
Allopathic uses: Anti-spasmodic,
sedative, calming, emmenagogue, hepatic.
Indications: Sensitive skin,
headache, insomnia, migraine, irritability, menopause, liver
and spleen congestion, colitis, colic, depression, fire ant
bites.
Holistic uses: In Chinese
Medicine, yin energy, wood element. Helps release emotions
linked to the past, dispels anger. When used on the throat
area, helps expression of true feelings.
Contraindications: None. May
cause dermatitis in some individuals. Can stain skin if
applied neat.
Blending: Blends well with rose,
geranium, lavender, myrtle, neroli, jasmine, marjoram, other
chamomiles. Not more than 5% in blend.
Chemical Components: Chamazulene
(sesqueterpenes).
Characteristics: Refreshing,
aromatic, deeply sweet. Dark blue color, thick consistency.
Extraction: Steam distillation
