Botanical Name: Elettaria
sublatum
Allopathic uses: Antiseptic,
antispasmodic, aphrodisiac, carminative, sialagogue,
stimulant, stomachic, nerve tonic.
Indications: anorexia, colic,
cramps, dyspepsia, flatulence, griping pains, halitosis,
heartburn, indigestion, vomiting. Mental fatigue, nervous
strain.
Contraindications: Non-toxic;
non-irritant, non-sensitizing.
Blending: Blends well with lavender,
geranium, oakmoss, opopanax, pine, fir, Styrax and oriental
oils.
Chemical Components: Pinene,
cadinol, cadinene, myrcene.
Characteristics: Colorless to
pale yellow to olive green in color. Thin consistency; Deep,
green, woody aroma with balsamic undertone.
Extraction: Steam or water distillation from
oleoresin or gum.
