Ingredients We Use #46: Wintergreen

Wintergreen oil is colorless to pale yellow in color, sometimes with a pinkish tint. When older the oil can turn reddish brown and should not be used. Wintergreen has an intense, sweet-woody, aroma with a hint of vanilla. Extraction of oil: Steam or water distillation from leaf. Prior to extraction, leaves are macerated in warm water which releases essential from which oil is distilled. Wintergreen is a mild analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antirheumatic, and astringent. Wintergreen is used topically to sooth sore muscles, joints, gout and rheumatic conditions. Some Source Vital products that contain Wintergreen are: Analgesic Bath Oil and Fluid Reduction Gel.
