Ingredients We Use #42: Cistus

Cistus essential oil is dark yellow to amber in color with a thick, viscous consistency. Cistus has a warm, sweet, balsamic, musky, leathery, and deep aroma. The oil is extracted by steam distillation of the crude gum. Cistus has antimicrobial, antiseptic, antitussive, astringent, expectorant, and tonic properties. Cistus has been used to treat: aged skin, wrinkles, boils, coughs, bronchitis, rhinitis, colds, and urinary tract infections. Source Vital's diffusion blend Sacred Woods is an intoxicating blend of Cistus and exotic wood oils.
